Boots Shoes

How do you get the smell of cat urine out of things like rugs, shoes, boots, etc?
My wonderful cat has this one annoying habit of sometimes urinating near the front door. Recently, he urinated on some shoes and boots. Is there a way to get this smell out? I just sprayed a whole lot of carpet cleaner (called Prosolve) on my boots in the hopes that this will work. Are there some other ways of getting the smell out?
Everyone will come on and give me a thumbs down, but I don’t care anymore.
Kitty litter. Get a knee high hose, fill it 3/4 with kitty litter and stick it down in the shoe to neutralize the odor. If it’s on the outside of the shoe, bury that part of the shoe under the kitty litter for several days.
Put baking soda on the spots and let it sit, keep wetting and putting the baking soda on the spot for at least a week. It WILL pull it out.
Odoban is also good, but smells funky to me. It neutralizes organic smells.
